A New Age for the Road Owl

As a proud partner of BIG4, New Age Caravans have been producing quality caravans for families since 2008. Their Road Owl, introduced in 2017, has been a popular line of vans for the Australian manufacturer allowing families to travel in comfort and style.

New Age has just launched their updated MY24 Road Owl models, which go above and beyond with a new range of options and innovations combined with stylish good looks that will ensure you’re the envy of any holiday park. The MY24 is available in 19ft and 21ft configurations as well as standard and off-grid models for the more adventurous-minded. Road tested by Aussie families

Friends of BIG4 and New Age ambassadors @ourwhittleadventure have been travelling for 2.5 years full-time on the road. Mum Clem, Dad Mark along with their toddler Liam and two Kelpies have owned their Road Owl for three years. Clem says New Age’s reputation and the desire to purchase an Australian-made van that would keep up with them prompted them to fly into the showroom in the first place.

‘Once we started looking into the models that New Age provided, we couldn’t look past the Road Owl,’ says Clem. The family have future-proofed their purchase, which they aptly named Hedwig, by buying a double bunk configuration as they’re expecting another bub to join them on their adventures later this year.

After travelling for 3 years on the road, Clem says the van’s reliability and towability has been what they have loved most.

‘We have done some extensive travelling in that time to some places people wouldn’t even contemplate taking a caravan and it’s never faulted. I think the design and build quality of these vans is what has truly stood out to us!’

If you were already familiar with the Road Owl, the first thing you’ll notice when you see the new models is the striking new decals with orange, black and white giving the vans a head-turning exterior that’s sure to catch the attention of fellow holidaymakers. Featuring a sleek aluminium rear wall, smooth side finishing, upgraded rear mouldings, premium options, and smart exterior features like an accessible water pump cradle with independent isolation valves.

Improved from the inside out

And that’s just the outside! Step inside a new Road Owl and you’ll know this is a van designed to travel in style. The interior features:

• An internal redesign with enhanced furniture

Other creature comforts include reverse cycle aircon to tackle the brutal Aussie summer, an ensuite with a toilet and internal shower, and the spaciousness of a queen bed and triple bunk.

@ourwhittleadventure’s Clem says the mod-cons of the Road Owl make it a clear winner for families. ‘The ensuite, having our own shower and toilet onboard has made living and travelling so much more enjoyable.

‘The washing machine, travelling with kids we think this could almost be considered an essential item for long-term travel.’

Flying into a BIG4 near you

Clem, Mark and the family are looking forward to hitting up some BIG4 parks in their Road Owl soon. First on their list is BIG4 Ingenia Cairns Coconut in far north Queensland. Also on their list is BIG4 Whitsundays Tropical Eco Resort, as they are keen to return to Airlie Beach after visiting in 2021 and enjoying the pet-friendly aspect of the park. Looking to see some of NSW in the future, BIG4 Happy Hallidays on the North Coast is due to get a visit from @ourwhittleadventure’s Road Owl thanks to ticking so many boxes for the whole family.
