Our Access and Inclusion Policy

1. Objective

BIG4 Castlemaine Garden Holiday Park is committed to providing quality services and accessible and inclusive places for all, regardless of gender, mental or physical handicap, age, race, religion or sexual orientation. Our aim is to ensure our business policies, procedures and behaviours promote diversity and inclusion.

Disability Discrimination Act (1992)

We recognise that under common law we have a legal duty to ensure that employees, guests and visitors are not discriminated against.

Duty of Care

  • We have an obligation to provide access and inclusion policies and practices to ensure employees, guests and visitors can access and enjoy the facilities and amenities of the park as much as is practically possible.
  • BIG4 Castlemaine makes every effort to make any changes or modifications necessary, when possible, to meet the needs of staff and guests.

2. Policy

Our policy understands each individual is unique and recognises our individual differences.

BIG4 Castlemaine is committed to:

  • A workplace that is free from discrimination, harassment, bullying, victimisation and vilification;
  • Treating employees fairly and with respect;
  • Treating all guests, fairly, equally and with respect;
  • Flexible work practices to support employees; and
  • Awareness in all staff of their rights and responsibilities regarding fairness and respect for all aspects of diversity, via company policies and training.

 2.1 Physical access

BIG4 Castlemaine is committed to taking actions to ensure employees and guests with disabilities are able, as much as possible, to move about safely, easily and access our facilities.

We have several provisions for Guests with disabilities. We have:

  • Introduced a specially modified fully self-contained villa that offers an accessible oversized master bedroom suite and bathroom with a walk-in or roll-in shower;
  • Provided an accessible shower and toilet cubicles within the main male and female amenities;
  • Provided a large dedicated family/ wheelchair-friendly / special needs bathroom for use by guests as required;
  • Provided customer disability access training to front-of-house employees. 
  • Ensured grounds and guest services staff are proactive in assisting special needs guests, including ensuring proximity to accessible amenities and assistance with manoeuvring a caravan onto a site or erecting tents and awnings.
  • Committed to ongoing modifications where necessary and appropriate in the BIG4 Castlemaine development Master Plan.

2.2 Information and Inclusion

  • BIG4 Castlemaine is committed to proving information on its accessible accommodation and amenities to guests and potential guests via our website, social media, guest booking and information materials, and through listings on Accessible Accommodation Australia and general booking platforms.
  • We display our Accessible Accommodation accreditation on our website and at our reception area.
  • We also display the Welcome the Rainbow sticker at our reception area to welcome and promote the inclusion of guests and visitors from the LGBTIQ communities.
  • We are committed to regularly exploring further opportunities for visibly promoting our support for access and inclusion in our marketing materials, guest information, community support activities and booking platforms.
  • This policy applies to all employees, visitors, guests and suppliers of BIG4 Castlemaine while on company premises. This includes any online platform used as part of business operations. This policy is effective from April 1 2023.

Policy review

This policy will be reviewed 12 months after its introduction and then on an annual basis thereafter. This will ensure that the policy remains current and practical.
