Bringing a four-legged family member on holidays can sometimes make exploring destinations a little tricky, fortunately Bendigo offers a great range of destinations – for every good dog and their best mate. You'll dig the treasures on offer in this pet friendly paradise. Paws here for parks, gardens and lakes, posh nosh, craft brews and lazy lunches. There's a wealth of great spaces to explore here.
1. Percy and Percy
This Bendigo corner-café does coffee and classic breakfasts, lunch and sweet treats. Spend a lovely morning or sunny afternoon with your dog, in the shade of an umbrella in the courtyard.
2. Lake Weeroona
Walk, jog or cycle around this beautiful ornamental lake and reserve in Bendigo. Grab your dog’s favourite gelato flavour from the café.
3. Bendigo Botanic Gardens
Spread a picnic blanket by the pavilion, stroll by the lagoon and admire the rare plants at Bendigo's historic botanic gardens.
The Marong Family Hotel is only 300 meters easy walk from our park. With outdoor seating your fury friend can sit with you under the verandah in the shade as you eat your meal.
5. Malone Park
The Malone Park recreation reserve is one of the most picturesque local country football cricket reserves in the country. It’s a stunning oasis of lush green grass nestled amongst the huge Ironbark trees, is a must see to enjoy as it is located only 500 meters walk away from the BIG4 Bendigo Marong Holiday Park. It off Malone Park Road Marong turn right when you get the Marong corner store and it’s another 200 meters on your left-hand side. The beautiful recreation facility is home to the Marong Football club, Marong Cricket club, Marong Netball club, Marong Tennis club, Marong Bowling club. It even has Light Harness and Bendigo Family Equestrian clubs, the Marong Swimming pool and a kid’s playground. You can also take a break from your leisurely walk and grab yourself a coffee at the cart right next to the amenity block, its great coffee so it is well worth your while.
Dogs are welcome here for breakfast, lunch, or any time. Chino, the resident Labrador, will greet you and show you around. He loves to make new friends.
7. The Gallery Café
Park yourselves at a table in the outdoor dining space, overlooking historic Rosalind Park. Grab coffee and cake, or something more substantial.
8. Kennington Reservior walk
Connecting the Kennington Residential area to the Kennington Reservoir, Sporting Precinct and Strathdale Park as well as Strathdale Village is a pleasant and easily modifiable to personal fitness and taste.
Including many popular parks and walks as well as places for coffee and public toilets this walk can be shortened or lengthened by cutting out or adding segments.
This walk also consists solely of footpaths which are child/cycle/pram friendly as well as avoiding main roads where possible. This passes Strathdale Village which includes several nice cafes and eateries as well as some fast food staples, and also contains numerous lake sided parks near Kennington Reservoir as well as a large playground and public park at Strathdale Park.
