The Buchan Caves Reserve is home to Victoria's largest cave system - a stunning network of caverns carved out by an underground river over millions of years. Located approximately 50 minutes' drive from BIG4 Whiters Holiday Village, it makes for an unforgettable day trip in East Gippsland. You can marvel at the magnificent stalactites, stalagmites, and beautiful calcite-rimmed pools in the spectacular caverns. The site is open 364 days a year and also offers beautiful walking tracks, picnic areas, and great opportunities to spot wildlife like native birds and kangaroos.
Explore an ancient underground world
Guided tours are the only way to see the awesome caverns of Buchan Caves. Tours are conducted daily in the renowned Royal Cave and Fairy Cave, both of which feature unique and elaborate limestone formations. While the reserve is undergoing ongoing recovery works following flood and fire damage, the essential visitor experience, including the guided tours and key walking tracks, is safely open for guests to enjoy.
