Swimming lake adjacent to the park - open all summer!
This huge man-made swimming lake is owned by the local council and is right on our doorstep - It operates between the dates of the 1 December and 31 March each year. This lake is seven times the size of an Olympic swimming pool. Maybe do some 50m swimming laps on the marked-out lanes or relax on the sandy shores. It has well shaded areas with the beautiful gum trees doted around the lake, or for the little ones a soft fall base under the overhead covers the pools edge. Adults and kids alike will like the pontoon that reaches the centre of the Lake. The best part - it's completely FREE.
Events held on the swimming lake - some of the events are held here annually, including the miniature remote controlled ships, which is called Taskforce 72. These ships are exact replicas of the world’s naval ships/submarines and all to one scale and this event is held in the last weekend of November each year.
Schools use the lake to teach children how to swim - with swimming carnivals held over the time the pool is open and does not impact on the use of the pool. With the size of this swimming lake allowing for many to use the pool and not infringe in other lake user's areas.
Summer swimming can be enjoyed by everyone - this lake is well known in the district and is such a pleasure to have on our doorstep. You may wish to wake up in the morning and just pop over and have a refreshing dip to wake you up, or in the afternoon when the sun is streaming down enjoy the cool waters while you relax with the kiddies splashing at the sandy shoreline.
