Easy Access Cemetery Tour

Community Event

This stroll-n-roll tour is wheelchair and wheelie-walker accessible. For curious minds or history buffs, this tour of the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery offers a one-of-a-kind adventure through time.
A small group of people, backs to camera, walking and wheeling down a cemetery avenue.
A large marble angel standing on a large base on a grave.
Two clasped hands, etched in sandstone. The left cuff is frilled and feminine, the right is manly.
Several people, backs to camera, one using a wheelie-walker, one in a wheelchair, looking at graves.
A wide photo of the cemetery in autumn, golden trees and a dark sky.
An bitumen avenue with large trees either side.
Discover ordinary people who did extraordinary things to make the Toowoomba region what it is today: a war hero, a mischievous youngster, farming battlers, an outback queen, a grieving father, an Italian angel, and a pioneering poet, to name a few.

This tour covers about 450 metres of bitumen over 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Along with unearthing the stories of some fascinating people who rest at the Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery, the tour will explore cemetery symbolism, craftsmanship, and funeral and burial practices of a bygone era.
