Head down the garden path and get along to one of these floral favourites…

1. Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers, QLD

When: September.

Fittingly, the ‘Garden City’ has an amazing annual flower festival. First held in 1950, Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers showcases the city’s parks and gardens in all their colourful glory. But that’s just for starters. Food and wine events, musical entertainment, markets, a parade, cinema under the stars, and much more all help create a month-long floral extravaganza.

2. CherryHill Blossom Festival, VIC

When: September - October.

Each Spring, guests are invited to witness the stunning cherry blossom flowers in bloom at their Wandin East orchard. Hurry, this fleeting sight occurs for just two weeks each year.

3. Tesselaar Tulip Festival, Silvan, VIC

When: September-October.

When September rolls around, the small Dandenong Ranges town of Silvan has a spring in its step. The fields come alive with colourful tulips – almost a million of them! Founded in 1954, Tesselaar also features market stalls and a wide assortment of food with a notable Dutch influence. It’s backed by live entertainment, tractor rides, and various themed days that add to the festival’s rich appeal.

4. Riverland Rose and Garden Festival, SA

When: October.

Renmark is the Rose Capital of Australia, so fittingly it’s at the heart of this floral favourite. The beautiful Murray River town is ablaze with colour in spring and the festival celebrates the visual delights with a jam-packed assortment of activities spread across a host of venues. In more recent times, the gala has expanded to incorporate neighbouring towns, including Loxton and Waikerie.

5. Kings Park Festival, Perth, WA

When: September.

6. Bathurst Spring Spectacular, NSW

When: October.
