PATS Sapphire Central is the beating heart of Queensland's Sapphire Gemfields, bringing together sapphire fossicking, gemstones, jewellery, local mining heritage, guided adventures and country hospitality.
Home to PATS Gems and PATS Gems Tourist Fossicking Park, the original tourist fossicking park of the Central Queensland Gemfields, PATS was founded by Patricia Vine in 1979. Her pioneering vision continues to connect visitors with local miners, gemstones and mining traditions.
Rustic buildings, timber features and a relaxed country atmosphere reflect the resourcefulness and character of the Gemfields, offering an authentic connection to the region's mining heritage.
Visitors enjoy a hands-on learning experience with friendly fossicking demonstrations, supplied equipment and guidance identifying local sapphires and zircons. Families and friends can share buckets while discovering the excitement of finding gemstones.
Morning visits are recommended when bright natural sunlight helps reveal gemstones. Summer mornings offer cooler conditions, while winter visitors are encouraged to dress in layers.
PATS Gems showcases rough and faceted gemstones, locally sourced sapphires, jewellery, crystals, minerals, fossils and distinctive gifts.
PATS Tours is preparing guided adventures exploring the landscapes, mining traditions and stories of the surrounding Gemfields.
Scrub Blush Cafe offers barista coffee, freshly prepared meals, bakery treats and welcoming country hospitality.
PATS Sapphire Central invites visitors to fossick, shop, eat and explore the authentic spirit of the Gemfields.
