The region’s rich soil and high altitude make the Southern Highlands one of Australia’s most prolific wine-growing regions. Home to over 60 vineyards, you don’t have to travel too far to find a cellar door.

Top vineyards in the Southern Highlands include Joadja Estate (the oldest winery in the region), Artemis Wines, Eling Forest Winery, St Maur Wines, Cherry Tree Hill and Mount Ashby Estate.

Visit Tractorless Vineyard to see the sweet, black-faced sheep that feed between the vines or drop in to their tasting room at The Mill Courtyard in Bowral. PepperGreen Estate also runs a standalone tasting room in Berrima, offering wine, olives and gin.
