Looking for a whale of a time? Narooma has a 98% sighting success rate between September and November!

Whales come heart-stoppingly close to Narooma and the peak season is during September to November, however, they're also seen heading north on their migration to warmer waters in June and July. 

A variety of species have been seen here in recent years including:

  • Humpback whales
  • Southern Right whales
  • Fin whales
  • Brydes whales
  • Sei whales
  • Blue whales
  • Orca whales with their distinctive black and white colouring


Whale watching is an awesome activity for all ages and these majestic creatures will often come right up the boats to say hello. Choose from a wide range of tour experiences. 

We are also fortunate to have some great viewing platforms along the path to Dalmeny where you can be mesmerized by these amazing creatures, or you can enjoy a drink at the local golf club and play spot the whale as they frolic in the sea.
