Shania was captivated by the Northern Rivers' diverse landscapes. ‘One minute you’re walking through green rainforests, the next you’re diving into crystal-clear ocean waves,’ she recalls. The region offers a unique blend of natural beauty, making it a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.

Highlights of BIG4 Holiday Parks

During her trip, Shania stayed at several BIG4 Holiday Parks, each offering unique experiences:

Beaches, swimming spots and beyond

The Angourie Green Pool near Angourie Point Beach stood out as the most memorable swimming spot. ‘Absolutely stunning spot right by the beach with a cliff to jump off into the water,’ Shania describes. This picturesque location is perfect for both relaxation and adventure. Besides hitting the beach, Shania enjoyed horse riding with Zephyr Horses in Byron Bay, a personal favourite, and hiking through rainforests to discover epic swimming spots.

Surprising discoveries and hidden gems

Shania was amazed by the abundance of swimming spots in the Northern Rivers. ‘Rivers, ocean pools, waterfalls… you’re spoiled for choice,’ she says. One of the hidden gems she discovered was the Currumbin Valley Rock Pools. ‘This was a perfect spot to stop for a picnic, surrounded by beautiful nature, small waterfalls, and rock pools,’ she shares. It’s a serene location that many travellers might overlook.

Charming towns and villages

Sawtell and Byron Bay were the standout towns for Shania. Sawtell’s laid-back vibe, trendy cafes, and boutique shops gave it a unique charm. 'It honestly just had a different feel to most towns,' according to Shania. Byron Bay, with its friendly people, quirky shops, and creative atmosphere, also left a lasting impression.

Travel tips and hacks

Shania’s top travel hack for a smooth Northern Rivers adventure is to download the Roady app. It helped her plan and navigate her trip effortlessly. She also recommends stopping at local towns for snacks and creating a killer playlist to make the driving enjoyable. 'The pies from Bruns' Bakery in Brunswick Heads were a big hit!' she recalled enthusiastically.

Impressive park features

BIG4 Saltwater Yamba Holiday Park impressed Shania the most. ‘The water park and adults-only pool area blew me away,’ she says. 'Unlike some parks that feel packed in, BIG4 Saltwater Yamba Holiday Park is spread out with high grassy sites and bushland around. It didn't feel like your typical holiday park, but more of a nature retreat.'

The new Oasis Pool at BIG4 Saltwater Yamba Holiday Park is a stand out.
