Reworlding Dandenong — Urban Play Meets Future Imagination

Exhibitions and Shows

What if the city became your game board? Step into 2050 with artist Troy Innocent and co-create a new world through urban play. Reworlding is part walking tour, part role-play, part radical imagining — a 3-hour immersive game where you will map, explore, and reshape Dandenong's future. Ready to rewrite the rules?
Four people standing in the city
Reworlding is speculative and relational world building, focusing on nurturing and developing existing patterns in culture, the environment, and society; evolution over revolution. This involves everyday actions for change through doing it together (DIT), speculative design thinking, and the question that comes as one world collapses - how can we start building the next?

Innocent's original game design is informed by research with urbanists, designers, artists, First Peoples, policymakers and gamemakers on design and cities. What kind of world will you build together? Play to find out.

Join a three-hour guided, interactive experience in public space to create a shared world through urban play, culminating in a collective world building workshop in the Walker Street Gallery. Assemble your collective, explore and remap the local neighbourhood, then play out the result through tabletop role-play. Did you create the world we want?

This new setting for the game responds to themes and artworks that feature in HOME25: Invisible Cities, offering players a chance to leave a trace of their journey within the exhibition space itself.
