Lorne – 15 min drive from Wye River

Lorne is a seaside town on Loutit Bay and backdropped by the Great Otway National Park. It is one of the most popular summer destinations on the Great Ocean Road. Take a walk down the main street (Mountjoy parade) and discover boutique shopping along with sensational coffee and restaurants.
The renowned “Tottis” restaurant is a new additional to Lorne huge range of iconic places to eat.

Forrest – 50min drive from Wye River

Deep inside the Great Otway National Park surrounded by dense bush is the small and beautiful town of Forrest.
There are three main reasons that people visit Forrest:

Lake Elizabeth

While you’re in Forest, you’ll need to head down for a walk around the Lake Elizabeth Loop, which is an easy 4.6km walk around the super beautiful lake.

As the lake only formed about 50 years ago due to a landslide causing the formation of this natural dam in the Barwon River East Branch, there are still the stumps and trunks of giant dead Eucalyptus trees towering out of the water.

The elusive platypus can be found in the waters of the lake – wake up early or head to Lake Elizabeth at dusk to catch a glimpse of these shy Australian natives.

The Forest Brewery

The Brewery is intentionally casual. You can dine in your bike riding gear or in your Sunday best. Kid friendly, dog friendly, beer-nerd friendly, country friendly & bike friendly.

Forrest Brewery Taproom and Restaurant is a welcoming place serving an informal, seasonal menu matched to Forrest Beers.

A down-to-earth and diverse bunch committed to craft beer and regional living and who love to talk and tell you stories about both.

Forrest Beer is best described as lost gold, damn good beer, hard to get your hands on. Brewing traditional, approachable beer inspired by the forest.

MTB Biking

Forrest MTB Trails offers some of the most diverse and fun trails in Australia. Built to deliver year-round riding. With 70km of single track and new flow trails weaving through everything from tall eucalypts, and native bush to magical fern gullies.
