THINGS TO DO WITH YOUR FURRY FRIENDS

Michael Unwin Wines
With their own resident pups on site, the team at Michael Unwin Wines are more than happy to accommodate your visit with your own furry friends.
Located at 10 Powells Road, Windermere, they are an easy 5-minute drive from your site or cabin at the BIG4 Ballarat Windmill.
Victoria Park
Not only is Victoria Park a great option for a scenic drive or walk, it’s also the prime location for an exciting adventure for your pets. Boasting not only off-leash zones all throughout and ponds for your pets to cool off, Vic Park also offers an enormous playground and new skate park, making it perfectly kid-friendly, too.
You can also try your hand at frisbee golf if you’re feeling up for a challenge.
Pioneer Park
Located close by at McKenzie Drive, Wendouree, Pioneer Park is a partially fenced dog park with a walking track and large grassed areas for your pets to run and play.
Drive Café
Both the venue and the staff are extremely pet friendly, with supply of water bowls and loads of outdoor seating. Just a 12-minute drive from your stay at the Windmill, you can’t go wrong by paying them a visit.
Ballarat Central is just around the corner, where you can window shop and explore what Ballarat has to offer.
Orchard Café
Located just across the road at the Lucas Coltman Plaza, Orchard Café provides stellar service to yourself and your fur babies. Asking for a “Pup Cup” will likely result in uncurbed enthusiasm from their smiling service team.
Walking around the Winter Swamp with your takeaway coffee or after sampling Orchard’s wide range of toasties is certainly not the worst situation to be in. To get to the Swamp, just follow the gravel lane as you exit left out of the park. For all those concerned, we cannot officially confirm or deny the presence of ogres and/or bunyips.
Walks
  • Winter Swamp
  • Victoria Park
  • Mount Buninyong
  • National Parks (on-leash)
  • Lake Wendouree (approx. 6.2km)
