Lakes Explorer provides educative Wildlife Tours or Water-Taxi services around Lakes Entrance (Gippsland Lakes) using a modern and quick commercial standard four-passenger ferry. Usually operates 3 or 4 days per week (part-time) when weather and wildlife viewing is suitable. Please contact the team to confirm operating dates.
All Water-Taxi and Wildlife Tours are run by Skipper Pete, a Certified ECO-Guide with Eco-Tourism Australia, a former National Park Ranger, land and marine, a qualified tour guide and member of Birdlife Australia and Wildlife Tourism Australia. Lakes Explorer is a Licensed Tour Operator (DEECA Parks Victoria).
They operate a water taxi service (up to four passengers) to visit remote jetties and beaches that larger tour boats do not visit. Available on Gippsland Lakes; also Lake Tyers and large Gippsland rivers by arrangement. Fees are based on distance, number of passengers or time; $15-$50 per person. Water-Taxi from to or from Lakes Entrance, Barrier Landing, Rigby Island, Kalimna, Nyerimilang Homestead Jetty, Fraser Island Retreat (guests only), Nungurner or Metung.
Wildlife boat tours (two or three persons only) operate on the eastern end of the Gippsland Lakes with a focus on fur seals, pelicans and occasionally dolphins. One or two hour options departing from Lakes Entrance. Departs as required, if weather and tides are suitable. One or two hour options. $20-$50 per person.
