Indoor Attractions
Day trips & tours
We've got you covered (literally) when the weather is a bit wet and cold. And it's the best time of year to explore without the crowds!
Here's some of our favourite indoor and/or undercover attractions, starting with the ultimate indoor and underground attraction:
Gunns Plains Caves - take one of the daily tours and explore the underground delights of these spectacular caves. There are a number of steps and a step-type ladder to go down and with a constant temperature of 11 degrees year-round, make sure to bring a jacket.
Ulverstone History Museum – this little gem is run by volunteers and usually only open from 1.30pm to 4.30pm. Full of local and regional history, you will enjoy displays, old video footage and take the opportunity to chat with a local.
Leven Antiques Centre – described as “one of the best antique places I have visited” you can discover lots of interesting smaller treasures and gifts that would make a truly unique and memorable souvenir of your visit to Ulverstone.
The Penguin Undercover Markets, as the name suggests is all undercover, every Sunday from 9-3pm. Located in the nearby coastal town of Penguin, they feature over 50 shops and a food court.
The Cradle Coast Community Growers' & Makers Market (formerly known as the Cradle Coast Farmers Market), held every Sunday from 8:30am to 12:30pm (Winter months dates may vary) at the Ulverstone Wharf, they simply move inside if the weather is inclement. Enjoy fresh local produce that has been farmed, baked, bottled or dug from the ground.
So now there’s plenty of great reasons to visit us in the cooler months! Of course, there are many more great attractions, so be sure to stop by Reception and ask our friendly team what their suggestion is.
