Bar Beach is sheltered from summer’s northerly winds and has outdoor showers and amenities.

In the warmer months, you can grab a coffee or a healthy bite from Bar Beach Kiosk, one of the region's famous beachside eateries.

Bar Beach is patrolled seven days a week in the summer. It is wave-free but lies on the channel of Merimbula Lake which can have strong tidal currents.

Floating down the channel on the outgoing tide is a popular pastime, but beware of boats and rips.

Walk along the rocks towards the lake for a more secluded swim, or down towards the mouth for some excellent snorkelling.

"The Bar" surf break is popular with mal riders and stand-up paddle boarders, as well as short board riders when the conditions align.
