Town Beach is very popular in Port Macquarie owing to its location near the centre of town. It is a patrolled beach for most of the year and has modern toilet and shower facilities with a Kiosk and car park running the length of the beach. The 600 metres long beach, curves between the southern river entrance wall and a jagged 15-metre high headland, capped by the Pilots flagstaff.
Families enjoy the open grassed areas with some shade overlooking the beach with picnic facilities. There is a kiosk offering fresh delicious food, good coffee and a view with a side order of sea breeze! There is nearby a modern and innovative playground, outdoor gym equipment and skate park. Take a short stroll and you will arrive at the picturesque Town Beach break wall with its colourful graffiti rocks a popular and iconic site.
Town Beach is a favourite spot with board riders owing to the numerous bars and protection from south winds. When the bars and tide are right the beach can hold a large southeast swell. Inside the breakwater is a spot called Flagstaff, which breaks over a sand bar in larger south swells.
