Woolshed Reserve – Where Gunnedah's Story Begins.
Namoi River at Cohen's Bridge
Woolshed Reserve
Tucked along the northern edge of town, the Namoi River winds its way west, eventually joining the mighty Barwon, Darling and Murray river systems. But long before Gunnedah had its name, this tranquil riverside spot was simply known as the Woolshed — a nod to early settler John Johnson, who built his wool shed right on these banks. It's a place steeped in history, where the town's story first took shape in the 1800s.

Today, Woolshed Reserve is a slice of laid-back country life – perfect for a picnic under the shady shelter, a family barbecue with wood-fired charm, or letting the kids go wild on the play equipment. Got a furry friend in tow? There's a dedicated off-leash dog park where they can stretch their legs too!

A scenic shared path makes this riverside reserve the perfect pit stop between Donnelly Fields to the west and Mullibah Lagoon to the east – ideal for walking, scooting or cycling.

Pack a footy, some snacks and your sunnies – Woolshed Reserve is ready for a relaxed afternoon under the big sky.
